About the role: The Sales Leader is a senior seasoned sales professional, who will lead sales and distribution operations and ready to expand the company's massive sales network across South Africa; comprising of all our areas located in that region. This is a leadership position which takes full strategic and tactical responsibility for all business functions of the direct sales business - as well as growing sales aggressively across the zone and overseeing sales operations. Our products range from portable solar lamps to more robust multi-light solar home systems, to solar powered televisions and fans and energy efficient inverter bulbs. Our products drastically improve quality of life for those that lack reliable electricity access: they help extend the number of productive, income generating hours in a day; they enable children to study after dark; they allow families and communities to gather safely to socialize after sunset; and when replacing field-based sources of light like kerosene lamps, they reduce exposure to indoor air pollution. We reach our customers through two distinct business models: a vast network of more than 300 distribution partners across 40 countries, and through our Easy Buy Direct sales channel, where we sell directly to consumers in India, Kenya, Myanmar, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia through a network of more than 7,000 commission sales agents. Our customers have the option to purchase these products up front or to pay for them through an instalment payment plan over a period of 4-18 months through our Easy Buy line, our technology enabled ‘pay-as-you-go’ (PAYG) systems. Duties & Responsibilities Delivering agreed weighted units targets at all levels with daily tracking of sales Providing Support to direct reports through strong leadership and mentorship with emphasis on robust sales structure Supervising marketing activities in the location to drive sales growth, this can be through ensuring AHQs conduct Evening demos, Trade shows etc Proper management of collection default rates Ensuring profitability of all regions/ areas within the Country and expanding to new regions and areas Ensure Recruitment and Retention of all sales teams through proper training, management, and performance review Coach and mentor, all direct reports on daily, weekly and monthly tasks Ensure that all teams have the required tools and materials for trade execution Ensure that all competitor activities are countered with effective responses to avoid loss of market share Ensure Visibility in the trade is high and as per agreed picture of success at all outlets Ensure that all cost and expenses are kept within acceptable levels and within budget Provide all required reports for business decisions for your zone Desired Experience & Qualification Has a degree in a Business-related field OR equivalent At least 7 years hands-on-experience in Sales with at least 5 in the solar industry Technical Expertise i.e in Solar Installations is a desired advantage90% territorial sales experience of areas/ states in South Africa Must reside in Johannesburg or willing to relocate (at personal cost)Has excellent Computer knowledge with comprehensive knowledge of Excel and Power Point Has high innovative skills, thinking out of the box, tests out opinions, cost conscious Is excellently skilled in Planning, Organizing, Prioritizing, Maximizing value and see the big picture Is able to develop trust, skilfully builds relations, works on internal & external relationships Listens well, coaches’ others and is disciplined in their learning practice Has Operation Excellence and a strong business acumen Package & Remuneration Market Related What we offer (in addition to compensation and statutory benefits): An opportunity to grow as a professional in a dynamic, fast growing, high impact industry; The chance to work in an open minded, collaborative culture surrounded by enthusiastic team members who are driven by the challenge of continuously innovating and growing a smart, sustainable business with profound impact on the world; A truly multicultural experience: you will have the chance to work with and learn from people from different geographies, nationalities, and backgrounds.
