The role of the internal auditor is to independently and objectively evaluate the organization’s operations and gather relevant supporting evidence. The internal auditor essentially serves as the eyes and ears of the company’s senior leadership and board of directors. The internal auditor will help the organization accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes. Their assigned work may cover any area of an organization.
